An Idea for giving Terra Cotta Pots a Face Lift

Hello everyone I hope your having a wonderful day.

This weekend as I was viewing different blogs I came across this photo.
I have several old terra cotta pots that are in good shape.
I have been researching ideas to give them a face lift.

Could I achieve this zinc look with chalk paint?
<3
If so, I would like to do a grouping in the yard with different sizes.

A Fire Pit That Makes Me Smile............

This photo captures what I would imagine was an amazing evening!

Awe.....It brings back memories of our family gathered around the fire pit
roasting marshmellows at the river.

What Would Ellen do?

Back in May 2013, both Cote de Texas and Elle magazine featured Ellen and
Portia's home. While pondering ideas for our outdoor area,
I thought to myself, "what would Ellen do"?

These chairs photographed under the amazing trees appear to have an adjustable back.
I love the thick dark charcole cushions mixed with the wood....

We want a sitting area on the deck but finding confortable furniture is a challenge.
We've found one in Georgetown but it's in a dark wicker I perfer the lighter color.

I continue to like the distressed table with wicker chairs, this would be ideal placed down by the pool.

I wouldn't mind these lounger chairs...

(This particular photo was from a previous home,
it's a much more contemporary home than the horse ranch.)

Awe... so that's what Ellen did!

I promise Spring is Coming!

I continue to look for inspiration for our many projects.
This week we were able to meet with several pool companies.

We anticipate receiving their purposals next week to start the process.
"Dream a little dream with me...."

Have a wonderful weekend!

A Possible Pool Design

After looking at pool designs over the last year we finally sat down
with a contractor to load in our wish list into a software application.

Here's a good representation of what we're imagining our pool design to be.
It's a work in progress and it's fun to dream!

Everything was SO much fun until he "hit" the sum button.

Have a great week.

Monday Morning Inspiration

Hello everyone I hope you had a great weekend.
I spent all my time resting and relaxing.
I'm pleased to say I feel so much better and I am refreshed
and ready to have a productive week.

We are finishing up the deck and now researching deck furniture.
Last week we started visiting with a few pool contractors as well.
I'll continue to keep you updated on our journey.

The Exterior Deck Update

The deck is coming along extremely quickly, despite the ice
and cold weather we've experienced in Austin, Texas.

Last week the powder coated deck railing was installed.

The deck skirting is up but not yet stained.
Here's the door to enter the storage space under the deck.

We're pleased with the amount of space we gained.
We plan to use this for our pool equipment someday soon.

The stair railing will be finished today!

We are making progress.
Remember just a couple of weeks ago?
Really it's hard to BELIEVE!

What's Happening On the Inside

Hello everyone I hope you had a great weekend.

Our deck project is coming along and I will be updating photos this week.
Today I wanted to show you what's happening on the inside.

Mari Johnson continues to add her touch to our home.
We are in the process of updating our master bedroom.
We kept our original sleigh bed from Restoration Hardware.
The remaining pieces have all been purchased through Back Home Furniture.

I love the side tables they bring the "unexpected" to the room, they're
finished in a  white lacquer.  Inside are interior shelves
concealed by a decorative door topped with beveled mirror glass.

The lamps are amazing!
You think I'm ready for an alarm clock purchased in this century!

These photographs do not do the art work justice the colors are much more vibrant.

I love the amazing pillows and bedding.

Don't you agree every room needs a starburst mirror?

Go get a pair today!

IPE Fiberon

Hello everyone it's Friday!
I hope you guys had a great week.

It's too cold outside for photos to be taken.
So, here's a glimpse of the IPE Fiberon installation through the window.

Selecting the “right” deck material was one of the reason this project delayed.
We finally agreed we wanted IPE but the debate was over using IPE wood or IPE Fiberon

We ultimately relied on the experts to educate us on the pros and cons of each product. For our lifestyle and the current quality of the two products we ended up selecting IPE Fiberon.

Today it is well below freezing, but the team continues to move forward.

Have a great weekend!
